Founded in 2014 - BLAIRARCHIBALD began as an opportunity to explore ideas within an emerging high end menswear culture in Australia + to develop a signature reflecting the creative environment the brand works within.
In 2017 BLAIRARCHIBALD won the prestigious International Woolmark Prize for Australia / New Zealand in Menswear, showcasing S05-FW18 in Florence, Italy for the global final to 25 international judges including Livia Firth who heads EcoAge + was the co-producer on 'The True Cost' documentary. This was the first time the brand had showcased internationally + had the opportunity to demonstrate a commitment to sustainable practices through repurposing wool textiles + working with fabric mills specialising in reconstituting production waste into new materials.
In 2018 BLAIRARCHIBALD showcased S06-SS19 in collaboration with The Woolmark Company, Grown Alchemist + Eleven Australia as his first solo runway at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia to international press + buyers. Following this, the brand was also awarded 'Best in Fashion Design' from the Victorian Premier in conjunction with Good Design Australia for the Premier's Design Awards.
2019 has seen BLAIRARCHIBALD exhibited at the National Gallery of Victoria in partnership with Vogue Australia and Anna Wintour, where Blair met with Anna + Baz Lurhmann to present key pieces from his International Woolmark Prize collection. In April BLAIRARCHIBALD was awarded the BT Emerging Designer Award in Sydney, highlighting the next body of work to be launched in his first official retail space; Masons Boutique in Melbourne.
The brand is built on the philosophy of supporting local industries + perpetuating a contemporary take on men's classic styles. Blair continues to construct the sample ranges himself in Melbourne + works closely with Australian / New Zealand fabric suppliers and manufacturers.
Each style within the collections are developed with a sense of timelessness in mind. Every component from fabric to form to detail is considered in its' ability to serve the wearer for as long as possible and re-enforcing the ideology of investing in garments.
BLAIRARCHIBALD also offers a made-to-measure service which allows clients to select pieces from the range to be made to their required measurements. This tailored approach to the business has allowed Blair to sustain a close relationship with his clients + acts as an on-going dialogue, influencing the development of each collection.
